Review # 1 was written on 2015-10-05 00:00:00 Joseph Schillinger So, this book won an American Studies book of the year prize, but I found it belabored and repetitive. While the information itself was compelling, the form was a la second year college writing: In this chapter I will tell you X, now I am telling you X, I have just told you X. Ugh. Too bad. |
Review # 2 was written on 2009-11-19 00:00:00 Paul Tulley This book is a must-read for anyone interested in environmental justice. It is the only environmental justice book I have ever encountered that is explicitly from an American Studies perspective. It reframes the organizations and struggles of four neighborhoods in New York to highlight what the local context and organizing in the exemplary of the neoliberal global city. |
