EXCITING AND ROMANTIC Wolf Runner had been injured in a fight with a raiding party from another tribe. Fearing that her son would go looking for revenge. She sends him on a mission to New Mexico. Wolf Runner's mother Rain Song (Marianna) is white but had lived with the Blackfoot tribe since she was 13. Married to Wind Warrior a respected Indian amongst his people. She has never considered returning to the white mans world, but she owns a ranch in New Mexico, and wants Wolf Runner to go as someone wants to buy it. An old friend who cared for her when she was young has written asking for a favour, Rain song charges her son to call on and grant Ivy Gatling any help she needs while there. Ivy Gatling knows she is dying, and wants Wolf Runner to take her young granddaughter Cheyenne who is a half breed to his village where she will be safe. The journey back is fraught with peril, and both Cheyenne and Wolf Runner encounter many dangers. As they journey together Wolf Runner is becoming more attracted to the beautiful Cheyenne. But he is promised to Blue Dawn, who is expecting to join with him on his return. Loved this follow-up story to Wind Warrior. Emotional and full of action and romance. With fabulous characters, a great read.

Easy to enjoy No spoilers my only wish more details about village workings, both political and family structure. Details about the honor of both these tribes.
