Review # 1 was written on 2018-12-30 00:00:00 Raeven Harris I found it more interesting for its historical aspects than for its musicology (it actually seems to spend quite a lot of time criticizing critics who seek to draw a sharp division between popular, jazz, and R&B music, saying that the musicians of the time did not see those divisions at all, or that they were extremely fuzzy). It's a good presentation of what life was like in 1941-1943 for working musicians in the US. This spent about three months being my book before bed, where I'd read a few pages before drifting off. |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-12-06 00:00:00 Raymond Nassar This book was fun. And, even though this makes me sound like a five-year-old, I liked the pictures. |
