Review # 1 was written on 2010-02-02 00:00:00 Theodore Alderman A wide ranging collection of Indian poems, most written from about 1940 to 1990. The variety and vitality of styles and themes make for enjoyable reading. Includes helpful notes, brief biographies, and suggestions for further reading. (I found Vinay Dharwadker's Afterword more confusing than clarifying. To me it's best to focus on the poems themselves rather than on the seemingly endless ways they can be categorized.) |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-02-08 00:00:00 Michael Mueller Surprisingly entertaining reading. So evocative of Tokyo in the 1980s that it's more like a snapshot than a guidebook. It made me want to do a guidebook for the MBTA green line of Boston in the 1970s. |
