Cary presents research in the education setting from the postmodern research paradigm, as opposed to the constructionist/interpretivist-based research typically found in the field of education. Because I am a closet post-positivist, I had difficulty accepting her attitudes, not because Cary was not convincing but rather because I can be a bit of a fuddy-duddy. For those of you in education, you may want to check out chapters 3, 4, and 6 for an alternative view regarding teachers' roles and problem students. An aside - Lisa Cary is an excellent instructor!

Postmodern approach to curriculum theory. Not my thing. On chapter one and I don't get where Cary is going with her work. More on this as I dive deeper into her work...
