Dense, grounded in wide and deep reading, "Europe Before History" traces two millennia of change and continuity in the European continent, from c. 2000 BCE, with a special focus on Central and Eastern Europe. Kristiansen's argument is complex and involved, but to put it in the simplest way, he claims the emergence of a world system linking Europe from the Nordic region into the Mediterranean. No doubt there has been much new research since "Europe Before History" was published in 1998, but it is still surely a fundamental read for anyone interested in how Europe developed across the long haul from the Bronze to the Iron Ages.

A great resource on the history of Christianism. It tells the reader about the main denominations (Catholicism, Lutheranism...) and smaller groups like Lolards and Hussites without overlooking the relevant theologians and books.
