Review # 1 was written on 2019-09-25 00:00:00 Michael Demarco This highly educational work of non-fiction is a rare gem in that it is quite fun to read! It made me laugh out loud a few times. JPVD writes with real mastery of the subject, painting a vivid and frank portrait of what Roman women were like, based on what little evidence survives about them. I strongly recommend this book to all of the history-of-rome-podcast bros out there!

Review # 2 was written on 2007-12-31 00:00:00 Brenda Censori For the record, the History was enchanting. I don't know how much of it I retained, but I definitely enjoyed learning about individual Roman women and each one's impact. The Habits was readable, but not quite so interesting. What a prostitute wore, how a noble did her hair, and the like.
