Review # 1 was written on 2018-11-18 00:00:00 Rc Roush A bit outdated, but that's to be expected in a book 50 years old. Pretty much all stuff I already knew, but it would be good for an introduction to the time. Some of the information on domestic life was particularly interesting; I wish there had been more of it. Lots of illustrations. This is a good concept for a book, I just wish there was an updated and expanded book with this same concept.

Review # 2 was written on 2021-01-14 00:00:00 Carye Bue This book was actually just like talking to an old relative, maybe a grandmother or great aunt. They tell many stories, many of which are touching and amazing and that inform you of what life was like in the old days or old country. But at the same time, sometimes the stories wander off, or are hard to follow. Sometimes it's hard to keep straight all the names of all the people they talk about. Sometimes you sort of daydream in the middle of them telling you their stories :) And sometimes, just every once in a while, you really want them to be quiet.
