This book is the epitome of an informational book, and would be perfect for students who are learning about fossils. Fossils are so very interesting, and I had never really learned that much about them. This book really did an excellent job of teaching me and all readers all about fossils. I really enjoyed learning bout the different types of fossils, and I was exposed to some things that I was very unfamiliar with. I think that this book would be a great learning experience for so many people, adults and children alike. My favorite part of this book was how thorough the author was. There was nothing that I was left unsure of, she really did a great job of covering everything about fossils. This book is absolutely perfect for teaching students about fossils. There are nonfiction conventions on every page, and this will benefit students incredibly in their learning. The book starts out with a table of contents, showing readers exactly what they will be learning, and when that learning takes place in the book. There are also bolded words throughout the text which the author encourages students to try and decipher themselves. The bolded words are also in the glossary in the back of the books with important definitions. There are labels for every photograph taken, and all of the photographs correspond perfectly with the text. There is also an index, a bibliography, and websites listed to find out more information about fossils. I think that this book would be great in the classrooms, and it would be best suited as an independent read. Students who read this book would be so well prepared to give a presentation on fossils. This works perfectly in a science lesson as well, in which case this could be used as a read aloud book. I think that students would really enjoy reading this alone probably in about the third grade. I think that students could have a lot of great projects out of this book, including retelling the story concisely. I really believe that this is one of the better informational books I have read, and students would greatly benefit from reading it.

I enjoyed this book and thought that it would be an easy read for students, especially younger students. The text is fairly large and there are a lot of pictures, so students' attention will be captured throughout the book. The information was presented in a interesting and easy to understand way that I think students will enjoy. This book would be a good book to read with students if they were learning about dinosaurs or the different time periods of the Earth. It has some good information about where fossils come from and how they form. It also talks about what fossils can teach us when we study them, which I think would be beneficial for students. I think this book would be a good independent read for students who are interested in dinosaurs or paleontology. I think that enjoys either of these things would be able to find interesting new information about fossils that they may have not known otherwise. The book covers everything from where fossils are found to why we study them, so it covers a broad range of topics that I think a student who enjoys learning about dinosaurs or paleontology would really enjoy. This book had great captions on each of its pictures and I think this book would be good for teaching students what the captions of pictures can add to a book. Something else I really enjoyed about this book was that with more difficult words it gave the pronunciation the words so that students would be able to say them correctly. I think that would be helpful for students so that they do not get frustrated while reading.
