My favorite quote from this book: "Children are naturally inquisitive. We need to channel their fascination with the unknown into a desire to instruct themselves, for school constitutes but a small part of what they need to know. Students are in large part responsible for their own educations, a fact of which they may be unaware. The child's inner drive and innate curiosity are essential factors, both of which can be stirred up or stymied by parents and teachers. The library is a powerful place, providing the resource to investigate every angle of intrigue and every type of literature. Children primed for exploration will grow into stimulated, stimulating adults, with an ever-increasing passion for knowledge..." (p. 99)

4.0 stars. This is arguably the best reference book for Classical literature. It is not accurate to say that I have "read" this entire book but I have been using it fairly extensively since I acquired it in 1991 as part of an 8 volume leather bound set from Easton Press called the "Complete Oxford Reference Set." I have found it to be an excellent reference tool that is both easy to use and comprehensive.
