Review # 1 was written on 2017-08-04 00:00:00 Peter Barmby An excellent overview of the issues facing L2 Welsh learning. It's an area that's been scarcely studied in academia, which is unfortunate since as evidenced in other countries like Ireland, L2 speakers form an increasing proportion of minority language speakers given the demographic decline in traditional linguistic heartlands. |
Review # 2 was written on 2019-01-15 00:00:00 Joseph Reyes The helpfulness of this book can't be overstated. It is an in-depth look at Irish (Gaeilge) nouns. It covers all the declensions, looking at them all in detail and gives details on how to form the plurals of nouns, something which can be tricky in Irish. On top of this, Mr. Carnie gives quite a few verbal nouns, which are nice to have as these are using to form the equivalent of the English gerund and the infinitive form of the verb. He then caps it off with two lists of nouns and a section on the declension of adjectives. A must have reference for any advanced Irish learner! |
