Review # 1 was written on 2016-10-17 00:00:00 Mag. Patricia Chmelarova Public library copy. Not remembering book #1, hope it comes back to me. Excited to read this. Love this author's books. ... not liking this yet ... not hooked yet ... okay, I'm hooked. This is a tough story historically, tough to write, tough to read. This book is AWESOME! This is one of the best Christian historical fiction stories I've read. Well done! Since I'm not a big fan of romance, and the beginning of the book is the foundation of the story, based on the love story of Josef and Lissa, it took me more than a few pages to get hooked. Once the historical part kicked in, which is the Great War, which we know as WWII, I was hooked. This truly is a love story, on many levels. So many characters so expertly woven into the story, most of which was entirely believable. This is one of those books that make me want to research history myself, partly in hopes of finding the characters were real people, and partly to learn more about what life was like during 1917. Two words of wisdom to pass along. Once you find an author you love, trust their writing. Always read to the end, and see if you aren't wowed by the book. The second thought is that all Christian fiction worth reading should have a solid faith element deeply woven into the story through at least one or two of the characters, who not only have a personal relationship with God, but grow in their faith throughout the story. I highly recommend this book to lovers of history, particularly American, German and WWII history, lovers of a good love story, and lovers of clean faith-filled writing. Five stars.

Review # 2 was written on 2018-06-19 00:00:00 Craig Phillips Captivating I love historical fiction that is also based on true events and experience. This author has done a wonderful job of this. I read the first book and then had to get the next. I highly recommend this book for anyone. And I feel that you will find it hard to put down and very inspiring.
