Review # 1 was written on 2015-03-03 00:00:00 Mike Ebler I was concerned that the Harvard "X [world religion] and Ecology" series was mostly romantic orientalist wish fulfillment, positing a closeness to nature where only ecocidal collaboration with diverse regimes existed. But I think this volume was well done: it's honest about the ways it would like to modify--or selectively highlight--indigenous traditions as India faces a population- and consumption-driven permacrisis. |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-10-14 00:00:00 Ronald Diss Often used these days as part of the freshman reading burden, but a great read and overview for, uh... people who aren't college freshmen, but have a keen interest in, or plans to travel in, our hemisphere's tropics. Great focus on Central America & Brazil, birds (Kricher is, by calling, a bird person) and evolutionary biology in general. |
