Review # 1 was written on 2009-03-04 00:00:00 William Harmon I can't recommend this book highly enough. Hurst successfuly bridges the divide between Lacanians and Derrideans by showing that despite the well-established discord between the two, the works of the two thinkers actually have quite a bit in common. Hurst's ability to establish Lacan's "the Real" and Derrida's différance as pointing to the same aporetic logic is achievement enough. In addition, her clear, concise readings of works considered fundamental to the oeuvre of the above scholars and philosophers such as Hegel and Heiedgger are worth the read whether you're familiar with the texts or not.

Review # 2 was written on 2013-04-28 00:00:00 Martin Pustulka This groundbreaking book has a titanic task to undertake: setting out the ideas of two of the twentieth century's most esoteric philosophers Lacan and Derrida. I have to confess however that I found it a struggle to follow all of the arguments, and in the end was looking forward to finishing the book.
