But when I read carefully, the text and images are full of tips that solve practical problems that I've encountered in real life: Wipe-out tools (Where have you been all my life!) (18) Sorting paint colors by opacity (21-22) Blending without accidentally removing paint (41) How to make the beautiful, subtle, varigated backgrounds that I see in my favorite paintings (23) Different colors for the underlayer (latter half of the book) Lightening a glaze by wiping it away vs. thinning it with medium (98) I bet that with more experience, even more of this book will "click." Worth buying.

Review # 2 was written on 2015-12-25 00:00:00 Susan Miller This was a very helpful resource for me, because I am a total beginner in painting. It explains everything in terms you can understand and tells you why things work and don't work. Very valuable.
