Review # 1 was written on 2019-03-27 00:00:00 Bolano Roy Excellent guide. I ordered a copy to have at home. Covers a number of techniques as well as paints, binders, brushes, solvents.

Review # 2 was written on 2009-05-16 00:00:00 Haewon Jeon GREAT book for those just starting out with oils (like me). Everyone who wants to work with oils should read this *before* buying brushes/supplies/canvas etc. (In which case this is the only book you will need to buy, has all the info you need to get started and then some). Very good and clear illustrations/photo's, very up to date information (mentions water soluable oils!) Beautiful and varied examples of finished paintings. Not too many step-by-steps, but enough to get a good idea of what is possible. "only" three stars, because I wouldn't call it a reference for anyone past 'beginner'. Once you've read it a few times, and have been working with oils for a while, you probably won't open it again (apart from looking at pictures of paintings for inspiration maybe).
