I enjoyed most of Father Greeley's books that are nostalgically told and center around Irish families, the Chicago area and Notre Dame. This is a typically decent yarn, the third book in the series following Chuckie O'Malley and his "just friends" pal Rosemarie Clancy. They have a history together and in this book both go to the University of Chicago. Well the title tells you all you need to know about how "just friends" works out.

This is the third instalment of the O'Malley family saga. I found the main female character Rosemarie annoying thus I had a hard time picking up this book. It was tough to get thru. My first book written by Greeley and found the intimate moments of the characters squirmish for me. Enjoyed the historical footnotes of the fifties and sixties. Will try another book by Greeley which is not part of this family saga.
