Review # 2 was written on 2015-10-28 00:00:00 Alexis Cornett This is a popular, introductory biography of General Robert E. Lee. Not having read much about the American Civil War from the perspective of the Confederacy and never having read a biography of Lee, this book was quite appropriate to my level of understanding and I learned quite a bit I hadn't previously known. For instance, I hadn't known that the Confederate States were taking on black troops towards war's end and that Lee was an advocate of citizenship for such veterans.
