Review # 2 was written on 2008-07-18 00:00:00 John Sweeney An incredible book. Oates' story is told from diary entries, letters and conversations with people who knew him so everything is guided by facts. This isn't simply a book about his final journey either. His early life and experiences as a soldier are given as detailed research and space as his famous end. This was always going to be an emotional read and I was impressed that the author's managed to leave me with a smile at the end.
