This is a book about Tara the tiger. This tiger was born in a wild animal park and is cared for by humans for the beginning of her life. It tells all about tigers and different milestones in their lives, like how they open their eyes for the first time at nine days old. It ends by showing her going with other adult tigers when she is nine months old. There is also a timeline of their lives and facts on the last couple pages. I thought this book was okay, it was very informative but did not really tell much about tigers in the wild with their real mothers instead of humans. This is a good book when explaining tigers and how baby animals are different from humans.

Summary: We are taken through the life cycle of a tiger named Tara from the moment that she was a newborn tiger cub, until the day she was a 1 year old fully grown tiger. Each developmental milestone in Tara's life is marked with her age as she continues to grow up. Review: The author allows Tara to draw us in as she continues to develop throughout the story using actual photographs at each developmental stage and activity to allow the reader to develop a more personal connection that keeps them engaged. Other Books: "A Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle This is another book that talks about the life cycle of another type of living thing on Earth. Students can use both of these books as format to help understand different stages of development in different living things. Children can use this as a mentor text to create their own time line using a similar format to the story.
