Review # 1 was written on 2020-05-29 00:00:00 Keith Mcintyre I never thought that I would enjoy this story based on the blurb but I actually did. Newly widowed Kate is thrust back into the world of Jake Talbot, her high school sweetheart and lover, after 17 years. You see, Jake left her pregnant unknowingly 17 years ago and went away to Europe. Destitute and penniless, she married another man. Now 17 years later she is a widow and due to circumstances, she reconnected with Jake. But she is hiding a secret. Her 17 yo daughter is not her dead husband's as she has led people to believe but is actually her and Jake's lovechild. There is a lot of hurt, pain, anger and betrayal between Jake and Kate in this story. There are also lots of flashback memories. The book is written in the present and past. In order to understand the present you have to go back to the past. There are some moments that seemed to drag on forever though that was unnecessary and somewhat boring hence my ⭐⭐⭐⭐. Also the main characters are 36 yo so this story probably will not appeal to the younger crowd. |
