Review # 1 was written on 2016-06-05 00:00:00 David Pascoe If you don't have an interest in realist fiction or literary criticism there will be portions you might find dry. I certainly did. Especially as I had not read the mentioned texts. I found the chapters dealing with visual art and also the associations of detail to femininity to be the most interesting, which occurred mostly in the first few chapters. I gave four stars because while half of the book wasn't for me and I struggled to find motivation to get through it, in the end I think it achieved the purpose of the book well.
