A very entertaining linguistic column of English, especially from a New Zealand perspective. Though Gordon tends to touch on the same issues at times, it is interesting to read about the peculiarities of the language, and the reason for being so. What I especially enjoyed about it is the typical laid-back New Zealand humor she uses to reflect on things. Very positive.

Not exactly what I expected. Too much focus on grammarians and on idle things (a whole section just to talk about the first users of the OED, really?) that do not relate to language itself during the Late Modern English period. Some insights on lexis and/or semantics would be appropriate for this work, as anything related to that was quite vague and superficial. For some general info on this matters its okay.
