For purposes of disclosure: Professor Slade was an adviser in undergrad, and I have a tremendous amount of respect for him. His writing echoed much of what I have heard in class, which I always found engaging. Upon finishing, I wonder about his opinion on 'catharsis' and how it applies here to the overall theme of the sublime.
