Some chapters are better than others and resonate more with me than others. Loved Goodman, Goodman, and Paulson, and the Allington chapters the most. Wish Tierney's hopes for the years after 2009 were coming to fruition, but I don't see it yet.

Possibly the best articulation of the history and context of Literacy available; should be mandatory reading for anyone who cares about the discussion of literacy and who wants some clear-thinking by folks who have a legacy of literacy research and advocacy.
