Because his focus is on people who are often marginalized in society (and in the church) Swinton refuses the pitfall of offering an image of ministry which prioritizes the experience of some at the expense of others (like, for example, describing the church as a community free of mental illnesses or describing Christianity as a religion only for the abled). This is truly a great book. It is theologically rich and deeply practical. |
