Review # 1 was written on 2018-01-13 00:00:00 Steve Smith This is one of those books that 20 years ago I would have read repeatedly because it is filled with names, places, and dates. It contained only two family trees and no map. I realize I could have had a map with me while I read, and that I could have utilized Google to help me with relationships and locations. I would definitely recommend this book to people who enjoy reading about the Tudors. I didn't realize the pressure put on Queen Elizabeth I to name an heir during her reign. I had never thought about the consequence of naming an heir so found this insightful. |
Review # 2 was written on 2018-04-20 00:00:00 Edward Tilley I chose to read this for info on the lesser known Suffolks such as Mary,Eleanor and Margaret however I very much enjoyed the sections on the Duke of Suffolk and his fifth wife Catherine Willoughby as well.Jane's story takes up much of the book and it was well told with only a few minor errors due to it being an older book on the subject. Not particularly an easy read but for my purposes I was somewhat satisfied with the extra info it provided me and as always a fun read for me as a Tudor fan. |
