Review # 1 was written on 2016-10-22 00:00:00 Max Vandament I can hardly say enough about Father Quadrupani's book, How to Love God and Keep His Commandments. * It reads like uncommon 'common sense' and incredibility simple, yet good advice for how to live'and oh yes'how to please God at the same time. That is the whole point, isn't it? The book's three main parts'Practicing Your Faith, Developing Inner Peace, and Loving Others'were all of interest to me both generally as well as spiritually. The chapters were short, could be read in order or topically as required. Although Quadrupani presents his own ideas, it's easy to see the influence of St. Francis de Sales in this little book. *This edition is actually abridged from the 1795 Catholic classic, Light and Peace: Instructions for Devout Souls to Dispel Their Doubts. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Read this back in 2000--it's an updated classic dating from 1795. It's one of those marvelous little works worth reading and rereading. Father Quadrupani formed his spirituality on the model presented by the life and teachings of St. Francis de Sales and this book reflects it.

Review # 2 was written on 2018-07-26 00:00:00 Joseph Wiecken 507614 Peter Maurin's role in instigating the Catholic Worker movement makes his Easy Essays a must read for those interested in Christian Anarchist thought and nonviolent activism. Maurin meant these essays to be spoken aloud, not read privately. Actually, I kept hearing Bob Dylan's voice in my head while reading. Dorothy Day's a saint in my book. So, any resource that helps me better understand her Catholic Worker movement belongs on my reading list. Still, I would read Dorothy first, and Peter second.
