Name: Jill Messer Title: Graff, H. (Ed.). (2002). The presidents: a reference history. New York, NY: Scribner Publishing. Type of Reference: Biographical Reference Call Number: R 973.099 P9265 Brief Description: This reference book about all things presidential. This is a comprehensive guide of all of the previous presidents of the United States and offers biographical information on each of them. Citation of a Review: Booklist review. (1996). Retrieved from Cost: $15.94 Relevance and Relationship: The relevance of this text is that the library at East did not have a book such as this, where students could find tons of information about all of our past Presidents. Purpose: The purpose of this book is to be a reference for anyone interested in researching our county’s former Presidents. Validity: The book was reviewed by Booklist and contains articles written about the most recent Presidents. Format: The format of this text is print. Arrangement and Presentation: The arrangement of the book is pleasing to the eye with colorful pictures and imagery and detailed information regarding each President. There is a detailed table of contents as well as an index. Diversity: This would be a valuable resource for the low functioning students at East, because again, they enjoy reading factual information, which this book is full of. It would also be an excellent resource for any social studies/government class offered at the school.

Good photos, especially of presidents in the 19th century, but organization of the book is poor for each president. Pictures and discussions of presidential artifacts not as interesting.
