I am not the target audience for this book. That said, I think if someone is looking for a book on pastoral care, what it is, the ins and outs, how to provide it, etc., then there are better resources out there. If, however, you would like a book about how to be in better relationship with people in a ministry setting, then this would be a good read. I would have appreciated the book better with a slight title change in that direction, especially for the first half of the book. The second half of the book was a better fit for the title. Chapter 9 begins the content actually on pastoral care.

It is good for what it is designed to do, offer lay members of the church a paradigm for pastoral care. Best part of the book for me was the chapter on prayer.that's five stars easily.
