about contemporary art and a theory about why it looks like it does, the author purports a theory that as artists reflect life, the large porportion of "depressing"" themes depicted in art is indicative of the state of the human condition, the author is a communications professor at McGill U -- thought provoking even if you're not that interested in contemporary art
