This short book of only 127 pages was a terrific encouragement to me as a believer in Jesus. It details the early years of the Charismatic renewal in St Hughs Anglican Church nest Luton, England from 1971-74 This is a factual moment by moment detailing of how a community in a housing estate responded to the arrival of Reverend Colin Urquharts to their parish church. Under the prayerful obedience of Reverend Urquharts leadership, the church community grew spiritually and witnessed miracles of healing and other gifts of the Spirit. The renewal within the community of St Hugh’s gained momentum as the lives of those who were sick in body and soul outside the church walls were reached out to in practical and prayerful ways. I enjoyed the factual and humble telling of this amazing time in the life of the people of St Hughs.

The description of the book is incorrect. The correct description is as follows (taken from the back cover of the 1976 edition): ------------------- "Something different was needed; not just praying for sick people, but healing them!" When the Reverend Colin Urquhart began his ministry as parish priest of St. Hugh's, near Luton, on a large housing estate, he knew from the experience of his predecessors that life would be tough. Within four years, however, his church had changed beyond recognition as the members found themselves witnessing miracles of healing, and establishing new relationships with one another, as God gave them a remarkable vision of love, community and service. ------------------- My review: This is a very inspiring book which plants into the reader's heart a longing to really know Jesus and be baptised with the Holy Spirit. I can't wait to read the follow-up book(s) and to find out more about what God has been and is still doing.
