This book is a must-read for anyone interested in environmental justice. It is the only environmental justice book I have ever encountered that is explicitly from an American Studies perspective. It reframes the organizations and struggles of four neighborhoods in New York to highlight what the local context and organizing in the exemplary of the neoliberal global city.
