Review # 2 was written on 2014-01-06 00:00:00 PAT MURPHY What if could spend the summers of your youth in a lighthouse on a remote island in northern Lake Michigan? Read 'Passage' and you can, alongside Annie Bowen and author Loraine Campbell. Campbell passionately takes Annie's memories of the time spent on Passage Island with her father (a lighthouse keeper), mother, sister and baby brother and condenses them into one summer. Annie's memories were delightful. Imagine sitting beside your bedroom window watching the freighters float by, dreaming of traveling with them to far away cities. She tells of the visits from the lighthouse inspector, rescues, the hard work that her father did in keeping the light, and the mischief that she got into on the tiny island. The book is a quick read, but one that you'll finish with a joy in your heart. |
