Review # 1 was written on 2015-08-11 00:00:00 Daniel Robinson Very well researched. Argues that policies like the Civil Rights Act didn't do much for African Americans. I think those policies were "sold" as if they were specifically for Blacks, but affected a much larger population (women, the disabled, etc). I was pleasantly surprised that the book called out Democrats as well. Had a chapter on Black Conservatives and why many African Americans don't vote Republican. "It may be that Blacks do not evaluate Conservatism in terms of its support of issues that matter to them, but on more powerful emotional factors associated with their analysis of the threat posed by White Nationalism." |
Review # 2 was written on 2011-02-06 00:00:00 Marcina Blunn The book traces the poltics of America and the effect on African-Americans. Even liberals like Clinton and Carter are shown to have hidden agendas that do not help or support African-Americans. |
