Review # 1 was written on 2020-12-28 00:00:00 Philip Muniz Getting tired of biographies that are boring and lack depth. She seems like a fun lady with a good sense of humour. Initial success generated by her mother's focus to push her daughter into stardom. I'd say a later biography on Kiri would be far more illuminating - if its written well that is. |
Review # 2 was written on 2008-02-29 00:00:00 Joseph Stalin This book, despite its publishing date, is still the best biography in existance about Robert E. Lee. All other attempts (including Douglas Southall Freeman's) suffer from being much too hagiographic. Dowdey, a Southerner, likes his Lee very much, but alone among biographers he's also interested in finding out what made Lee tick. This book would be better if some editor could add new information to it but as it stands, this is still the one to go to. Available at the Internet Archive: |
