This book straddled between first-hand accounts, newspaper reports, government communiques, and other loosely-assembled documents to attempt to tell the accounts conveyed by the American people at the time. Instead, this book constantly jumps from many subjects and topics, rarely with any sort of transition between chapters other than events that were recounted for that day. Additionally, I lost count the number of times where the author, who constantly interjected his perspective within the pages, used the term "jingo" in many variants through the piece. Overall, it was a unique account, but I struggled to keep up with where the author was attempting to take the reader other than clippings he put into a divider by dates.

This was basically a good book that bogged down some due to the biblical type genealogy within it. It formed a vivid picture of the mindset of a particular people at that time in history.
