A wonderful (collection of) poem(s). The reader begins in the mythohistorical, perhaps in Europe in WWII and earlier, with ancestors who walk in from the dream, ancient war, pain, migration - then the present of lovers falling together and apart, love lust miscommunication little voices hands - then on, hints of death beginning to assert itself its presence (present). Peter Porter in his review calls it a Book of the Dead - perhaps a record of all you would (would not) want to take to the other side. Reading Cronin's words I remembered Ted Hughes: ark of blood baggage that old men open at the final hour and find useless The poems seem to ask is everything but memory useless, everything but spirit? poem 97 asks: can I let what I have go - into us? This collection is about coming into and then passing out of life, becoming part of the collective story; the blood-poem of ancestry. It doesn't provide answers; it is a beautiful, terrible dreaming moment in the flow.

This book explores the realm of self-employed work. There is a huge amount of helpful information and quite a number of worksheets so that you can discover what you ought to be doing. I appreciated that part of what was explored was what people are willing to pay you for, so that you don't strike out on a path that won't be compensated. The only issue I had with it was the format: in addition to the regular text, there is more information (over-and-above that contained within the main text) listed on the sides of the page, meaning that you have to read the main text and the asides, disrupting the flow of the book.
