Review # 2 was written on 2020-11-28 00:00:00 Stu Rohrer A comprehensive, well researched, and sometimes dry account of how Islam began and spread across the Middle East into North Africa, Europe, and Asia. Clearly, an Imperialist perspective (including stereotyping different groups of Arabs) colors the piece. However, "Glubb Pasha", who commanded the Arab Legion for 17 years and spent 36 years in the Middle East, was highly knowledgeable and appreciative of the region's history and culture. |
