Clifford the Big Red Dog returns; after a screen test, he's declared a terrific actor and taken to Hollywood to make a movie. Clifford's movie is a huge success and he becomes a star. Now Clifford has a doghouse fit for a star, dog collars made of gold and diamonds, a bone-shaped swimming pool, and many fans. But Clifford is not happy. What will make Clifford the Big Red Dog happy again? Young readers in the primary grades . . . first and second graders, ages six and seven . . . are the target audience for Clifford's adventures with Emily Elizabeth. But this story is elevated to something more with its wise message for all children. Clifford learns that things, no matter how bright or numerous or expensive, cannot take the place of family and love. Highly recommended.
