Review # 1 was written on 2021-01-15 00:00:00 Will Hadnett This history is well researched, nuanced, and enjoyable. Unlike many climbing histories, Yankee Rock and Ice takes a holistic view instead of merely focusing on cutting edge progressions in difficulty. Some of the most amusing stories involve novice climbers tackling modest objectives. I particularly appreciated their perspective on ice climbing. As someone who's done most of the climbs discussed in this book, it was fun to imagine how much courage the earlier efforts would have required. |
