The cover looks the same, but the version I read has 288 pages. I love history, and enjoyed this book. I admit that I only read every word of the chapters covering my own state along with the 2 neighboring states. I skimmed the rest & looked at all of the pictures. The pictures are great. There are many quotes & anecdotes from people who drove the road in the early days of the Lincoln Highway. They were the parts I enjoyed the most. Clearly, you would never have been able to complete the cross-country trip from coast to coast without a good sense of humor & strong sense of adventure. Can you imagine driving along & being so surprised to meet an oncoming car that you both stopped, compared notes on the trip & continued to correspond after that? You stopped at a farm along the way at any time of the day or night to buy a meal & they were happy to oblige!

This book is about the Lincoln Highway which ran from NYC to California...it pre-dated the more famous Route 66, which was not quite as long. Since the Lincoln Highway turned 100 last year in 2013, there has been renewed interest in the highway and its many stories. The book comes complete with historical stories about road trips when it first open and also it has plenty of pictures! This is an entertaining look at the Lincoln Highway.
