I believe this is a very important book for people to read to learn about the horrors that often get brushed aside in history. Charlotte Delbo is a Holocaust survivor that dedicated herself to telling not only her story, but those of the women she was imprisoned with (survivors and deceased) as well as victims of other genocides all over the world. She interviewed and collected stories and poetry for years for all the world to read. She was not one to shadow the horrors within her story and the others, but wanted the world to face it head on. I think several of the events covered in this book remain unknown or feel so far away but this is happening in our world today and this is a beautiful representation of the change we need to be in this world.

Engrossing, lyrical, honest, inventive, terrifying.
