Review # 1 was written on 2016-08-13 00:00:00 Barry Young Somewhat mistakenly named, Drinking from the Hidden Fountain is a wonderful patristic lectionary. Unlike a breviary, there are no prayers in the book, just daily readings from the Early Church Fathers (East and West) set to the civic calendar. Each month brings a different theme, and the daily readings are short enough not to be burdensome and rich enough to give one plenty about which to ponder and pray. Highly recommended for daily reading, prayer, and lectio divina. |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-08-25 00:00:00 Alan Walton Focusing on particular topics for each month proved to be more a liability than an asset in this daily devotional. Topics for one or two months didn't seem worthy of such attention. Nevertheless, wonderful nuggets of patristic wisdom scattered throughout this book. |
