Review # 1 was written on 2020-02-13 00:00:00 Leonard Elzey D.d.s This is an exceptional book and to understand Benedict, it is a must read. While the author may not be fully supportive of the Pope, he is an admirer. I was caught by Benedict with his tri-part publication of Jesus of Nazareth. Rausch traces Benedict's background and his leanings toward Plato and Augustine and shows how it influences his spirituality, is views on liturgy, Ecclesiology, Christology and his theological vision. This is a book to read and re-read. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-04-17 00:00:00 Joseph Palombi As someone who grew up protestant, Southern Baptist to be exact, this book was invaluable when I began learning about Catholicism (initially just an informal "checking it out," I was visiting and checking out a lot of churches then) and answered many questions I had before then as well as since. |
