Review # 2 was written on 2016-08-30 00:00:00 Steven Landis Picture Book Soak: Didn't Care For The girl in this story is introduced to snakes by a man who comes to her school. From then on she has an obsession with snakes and wears them absolutely everywhere she goes. The pictures in this book are all of the same thing, a little girl with snake wrapped all around her. One of the reasons that I did not really care for this book is because the story line just was not that interesting to me; I did not learn anything from it, there was not problem or solution, and snakes are not something that children should be wearing. In this area there are water moccasins and copperheads all over the place, it would be really bad for a student to go home and think it is okay to pick one up and "wear it". This story does not have a lesson that I can think of to go along with, but it would be a nice easy read for beginning readers. All of the pictures carry the same orange and yellow theme throughout the story which leads to continuity. |
