Review # 1 was written on 2019-02-13 00:00:00 Sylvain Chartrand I think this book is well written and worth reading. Wolinsky has an interesting habit of publishing books that are works in progress, and this one seems like a more complete work than others of his. His other less complete works are also worth reading, but are often full of annoying typos and inadequately expressed thoughts. The basic premise is that most ordinary states of consciousness for most people are trance states (times when attention is narrowed and fixated out of present time experience). In this book, Wolinsky expounds on this premise; catalogues various ordinary trance states; describes therapeutic uses of trance; and more. And in the end we learn from Wolinsky that the goal is to de-hypnotize ourselves so that we are free from the limitations of these ordinary trance states. |
Review # 2 was written on 2020-10-05 00:00:00 Greg Fisher Brilliant book. If you are a practitioner of hypnosis or a lover of the field then this book is a must add to the collection. I couldn't put this book down. I absolutely loved it. Stephen Wolinsky's premise that we need to de-trance from the limited trance states in which we find ourselves everyday is a whole new way of thinking about human behaviour and hypnosis. I felt a moment of clarity and much needed insights into how to create more meaningful change in my life and the lives of others from this book. I recommend it. |
