Review # 1 was written on 2020-04-18 00:00:00 Jake Mcfarlen Skimmed through this while weeding my library. Focusing more on breadth than depth, it's a reference book for writers with well-organized facts on a variety of topics: lists of the most popular songs by year; the candidates and their parties of American presidential races; a guide to legal terms; lists of gods and goddesses by culture; a list of famous battles in history. Most sections consist of a bold term and a one sentence explanation. This book is essentially obsolete due to Google and Wikipedia, and it's a big, fat book (over 1,000 pages). It's also dated, published in 1991.I would probably get rid of, except that it's inscribed, a gift from my brother on my 21st birthday. So it's going back on the shelf. Who knows, it may come in handy. Verdict: Keep |
