Review # 1 was written on 2012-05-04 00:00:00 Fodi Alexandra This well written book flows smoothly as Seymour's memoirs relate the travails of the Louisiana Tiger Brigade of Lee's Army of Northern Virginia from 1862 through October 1864. William J. Seymour ran his father's newspaper in New Orleans prior to entering the service. His writing skill is reflected in his memoirs. Seymour wrote his memoirs based on journals he kept while serving as an officer with the Louisiana Volunteers. He was able to see the war from the view of both an aide to staff officers and an officer of the line. He relates his experiences during the war from its mundane repetition to its worst horrors.

Review # 2 was written on 2010-08-02 00:00:00 Matthew Finke The good part about this was the nice tie-in with Gordon's 1864 work, which I just read about in his memoirs. The rest of the book was sort of ho hum.
