Review # 1 was written on 2017-10-14 00:00:00 Teck Li Andrew Koh Make me cry, why don't you. I'm not Jewish but this is the first memoir I've read that touches on the deep, constant cultural strain of immigrant households in a way that feels like it resonates, at least in part, with my own.

Review # 2 was written on 2007-09-02 00:00:00 Paul Sobel I re-read this book a year and a half out to see if I still appreciated it. I did. Perhaps more comments will come later. I particularly love the scene when Jyl and Edith become department store gonifs. :)
